Gemmy blue sapphires encircle a sparkling white diamond in this vintage English 18k yellow and white gold halo or flower ring. Made in London, circa 1973, it is very classic in style and has a beautiful presence on the finger.
The sapphires weigh approx. 1.80cttw and are a medium very slightly greenish blue to blue in color. They are extremely lively and beautifully matched. The round brilliant cut diamond is approx. 0.25ct. with SI1 clarity and G color, and there are approx. 0.20cttw single cut diamonds with SI1-2 clarity and H-I color around the outer edge of the flower. Total diamond weight for the ring is approx. 0.45ct. The interior of the band is hallmarked with a crown (for British gold), the number 18 (for 18k) the Leopard’s head (for London) and a lower case letter s (for 1973.) In addition, there is a maker’s mark, JHL. It is currently a size 6 1/2 (can be easily sized) and total weight is 4.4 grams. The face of the ring measures 1/2" in diameter.
In excellent vintage condition, this fine quality sapphire and diamond ring would make a wonderful non-traditional engagement or promise ring, as well as a fabulous, sparkling right hand ring.
