Featuring a happy fellow at a table with his drink and smoke, this charming antique art nouveau calling card case is a snapshot of a common activity through the ages.
The beautiful and dramatic art nouveau swirls suggest the movement of the smoke, rising from the cigar into and surrounding the atmosphere of the room. The happy expression on this character’s face indicates what a good time he is having!
The top flips open and the hinge works perfectly. That this case was lovingly used and carried, is noticed in the dent at the lower right hand corner on the back side of the case. Also on the back are beautifully scripted initials which appear to be E L P.
What a great gift for the guy who enjoys his ‘happy hour.’ Besides being functional, it is a wonderful art nouveau sterling silver treasure and would be an item of great interest on a desk or table or in a library.
The case measures approximately 3 ½” x 2 3/8” x 3/8.” Marked sterling and included in the overall design on the front, lower left hand corner, it weighs 54 grams.
