This antique Victorian 14k Gold bejeweled enamel ship is a one-of-a-kind lavish, seaworthy vessel. Of European origin, this impressive antique pendant / brooch was crafted in 14k yellow gold and enameled in rich cobalt blue, crimson, white, green, and yellow. Decorative enameled flowers and stars adorn the sides of the ship, framed by rubies, turquoise, and sapphires. The waves lapping against her hull glisten with diamonds as do her sails. Gold rigging leads from the deck to the garnet encircled crows nest. An enameled flower set atop the ship sparkles with diamonds and a cabochon sapphire. Ornate vermeil rigging swags from the crows nest to the bow and stern of the boat. The gold tassel is undoubtedly a later replacement for the original pearl.
This ship is quite three dimensional and grand in scale, measuring 4 3/4" from the top to the bottom of the tassel and 3" from bow to stern. In wonderful antique condition, the total weight is 48.2 grams of 14k gold (assayed). This is a rare and opulent jewel from the mid to late 1800`s and may be worn as either a pendant or brooch.
