Imitating the vibrant, fan-like plumage of a peacock, this antique cut steel and glass buckle set is an exotic accessory. The front buckle clasp is decorated with small and large rose cut steel and 2 long cone-shaped cut steel pieces at the center. Each side features a single foil backed glass, emulating the eye of a peacock feather in rich royal blue and centered in iridescent emerald green. The entire piece measures 2 7/8" across by 1 7/8" tall. The larger piece is meant to be worn as a decorative accent at the back of the sash and is a more elaborate version of the front buckle. Decorated with 3 cone-shaped cut steel pieces and 3 glass peacock eyes, it measures 3 3/4" wide by 2" tall.
Made in the latter part of the 19th century, this set offers an opportunity to own a spectacular one-of-a-kind antique. Although the set was traditionally worn as a sash decoration, the imaginative person will creatively wear it as a pendant, a choker, a brooch, a hat accessory......... Like a peacock in full plumage, the wearer of these alluring accessories is sure to attract attention, as well as many compliments.
