A very fine circa 1830 to 1840 boxed maroon leather sewing set to add to your discerning antique sewing tool collection. This is a very small example, possibly for a child. The gilt and polychrome tooled top is fabulous with its rose, rose buds and scrolling foliage. Complete with original latch hook to secure. One slides the hook over to reveal the contents. We see a three compartment red velvet lined interior. Each compartment contains a tiny tool - we see a small 0.75" silver thimble with chased roses. A red velvet and silver girdle form pin cushion, finally a matching silver button end waxer. All of these tools are equally dinky.

Size: 2 3/8 inch x 1 5/8 inch by 1 inch. (5.8 cm x 3.8 cm x 2.3 cm)

Condition: This sweetie has been cherished and well cared for. Very good and sound condition with a perfect working hinge and clasp. Some silk perishing to the interior of the lid. No hallmarks but guaranteed tested sterling silver.
