This is an absolutely wonderful item for the early photograph collector, fashion enthusiast or social historian! Purchased from a single owner collection, one of a pair each sold individually.
This fabulous ambrotype photograph was taken in circa 1855. The photograph depicts a formidable looking, rather stern English clergyman sat in a chair in front of a curtain in three quarter view. As you can clearly see from our images the ambrotype is sealed and backed with laid paper, as was the process at this time for both Daguerreotypes and ambrotypes. The photograph is housed in the most attractive period maple veneered frame; we love the dulled metal oval mount. The combination of the photograph and the decorative frame means this artwork will display excellently in any interior!
Measuring: Measuring: Frame width 5.5 inch (14 cm) by height 6.75 inch (17 cm). Plate width 3 1/4 inch (8.5 cm) by height 4 1/4 inch (10.75 cm).
