We all love an English country cottage don't we? Now you can have your very own in miniature form direct from England, including brick chimney, pan tiled roof, lattice leaded windows and trailing ivy. We adore the front steps and arched front porch canopy with ball finials...what's not to love. Looks fabulous in a grouping, see last image for display inspiration....
This sweet little pottery creation was made circa 1860 by one of the Staffordshire potteries in England. Its purpose was a money box as we call them here in the UK. This sweet, flat back cottage would sit on the mantle shelf next to probably a Staffordshire flat back dog or favorite figure. When you had a penny to spare you would pop it in your money box. When the box was full it would be smashed to retrieve your savings.
This is a good cheery example with very good detailing and shredded clay foliage. As the century wore on production increased and sadly quality declined.
