This is such a wonderful unique little item that is shoe museum worthy.

This miniature leather boot was made in England circa 1840. This is not a dolls shoe, it was made as a singular shoe by an apprentice shoemaker/cordwainer during the mid 19th century. This tiny boot was made by a young apprentice cordwainer (shoemaker) as a means of demonstrating his craft. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is fantastic. As much work has gone in to the making of this small shoes, as that of making the adult size version. The shoe really is scaled down perfectly from an adult’s shoe. This boot has the squared toes of the the 1840s period, six tiny holes for laces and the inner tongue. The lovely brown leather has the most wonderful natural patina. Whoever made this boot was clearly a talented craftsman in the making. This is just one of a really rare collection of original mid 19th century apprentice piece miniature leather shoes...see last images, each retailed individually, all possibly made by the same apprentice or apprentices at the same English shoe maker.

This is the ideal miniature for anyone who has a passion for 19th century fashion, dolls or miniature antiques.

Measuring: 1 5/8 inch (4 cm) by height 1 1/8 inch (2.5 cm).

Condition: Some natural drying/oxidising to the ancient leather commensurate with age. No shoe last to this boot, unlike the others from the collection.
