This is such a delightful little item, so unusual to find a miniature shoe complete with its original wooden last.
This miniature laced leather shoe was made in England circa 1855. This tiny shoe would have been made by a young apprentice cordwainer (shoemaker) as a means of demonstrating his craft. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is fantastic. As much work has gone in to the making of this small shoes, as that of making the adult size version. The shoe really is scaled down perfectly from an adults shoe. The black leather and ebonised wood have the most wonderful natural patina. Whoever made this boot was clearly a talented craftsman in the making. This is just one of a rare collection of apprentice piece miniature leather shoes...see last images, each retailed individually.
This is the ideal miniature for anyone who has a passion for fashion, dolls or miniature antiques.
