A stunning little example to add to any discerning early 19th century purse collection or fashion museum's holdings. This fine circa 1810 to 1830 example is offered in very good condition complete with its original drawstring tassels and base tassel. Unlined and knitted from VERY fine gauge silk with teeny glass beads incorporated in the knitting technique. The coloring is very unusual and subtle. The knitted ground a mushroom color with bands of petrol blue.
Please see identical purse examples at The Met Museum, ref no's C.I.38.23.127 and 1980.445.13
Size: 6.25" (16 cm) tall, incl tassel and when suspended 14" high (36 cm) by 4" (10 cm) wide.
Condition: Very good to excellent. Some minor blue coloring bleeding from being stored, most likely from the blue tassels. Not from fading - see interior color is exactly the same as exterior color.
