This utterly charming little toleware snuff box was produced in England during the 18th century, circa 1790. The snuff box features hand enamelled decoration; the text to the lid is in old English saying ‘Honefty is the beft policy’. The tin features a simple lift off lid to reveal the inner compartment where one would store their snuff. The lid opens and closes tightly and is in full working condition. This is a wonderful little item, a rare survivor from the 18th century. We can’t help imagine who has owned this piece in its 220 year plus history.

The snuff box is perfect for a collector, it will display excellently alongside a collection of early pottery or primitive painted folk art. Please see our collection of 18th and 19th century art and antiques listed in our store.
