This is one of our favorite recent acquisitions, purchased as one of a pair, sold individually. This gorgeous embroidery on paper was produced in France during the late 18th/early 19th century. The silk embroidery is on paper and features the most wonderful scene, the perfect piece for anyone who loves all things folk art. The scene depicts a floral scene with a large central pink rose surrounded by delicate bluebells; we love the draped curtains that frame the scene. The embroidery is housed behind old glass in the most decorative wood frame.
What a fantastic piece of early folk art, hard to believe that this piece is over 200 years old. This artwork will display excellently in any setting, be it contemporary or more traditional.
Measuring: Frame width 8 7/8 inch (22.5 cm) by height 11 inch (28 cm). Aperture width 5 3/8 inch (14 cm) by height 7.5 inch (19 cm).
Condition: Good, age fading to the silks. The old antique frame has at some point in the past been stripped back to the wood that gives this nice coloring now.
