This is one of our favourite recent acquisitions, purchased as one of a pair, sold individually.
This fabulous embroidery was produced in France during the late 18th/early 19th century. The silk embroidery is on paper and features the most wonderful scene, the perfect piece for anyone who loves all things folk art. The scene depicts two doves holding a vine leaf in their beaks; in front of them we find two intertwined love hearts. This symbolic scene for love is perfect, typically French. The embroidery is housed behind old glass in the most decorative stripped pine wooden frame.
What a fantastic piece of early folk art, hard to believe that this piece is over 200 years old. This artwork will display excellently in any setting, be it contemporary or more traditional.
Measuring: Frame width 8 7/8 inch (22.5 cm) by height 10 7/8 inch (27.5 cm). Aperture width 5.25 inch (14 cm) by height 7.25 inch (19 cm).
Condition: Good. The old antique frame has at some point in the past been stripped back to the wood.
