This absolutely stunning watercolor portrait was painted in England during the early 19th century, circa 1815. The painting is after a portrait by François Huet Villiers and depicts Hebe, the Greek Goddess of youth, with her father Zeus portrayed as an eagle.
This regency era, mythological Greek painting has the most delightful colorway. The painting is on paper and his housed behind old glass in its original gilt frame. The frame is a really fabulous example; it is thick in depth and is totally original. The combination of the classical style painting and the country house frame means this piece will display excellently. This is THE perfect country house antique.
