This rare and decorative miniature sauceboat was produced in Staffordshire, England during the early 19th century, circa 1820. This wonderful little item was produced for a child as part of a toy dinner service. The exterior of the tureen features a blue and white transfer printed design. The pattern is called 'Kite Flier' also called ‘Franklin’s Kite’ and depicts the 1752 experiment in which Benjamin Franklin flew a kite near thunder clouds to uncover unknown facts about the nature of lightning and electricity.
Measuring: Width 3.25 inch (8.5 cm) by height 1 7/8 inch (4.5 cm).
Condition: 3 small vertical hairlines to interior rim.
