This is one of our favorite 19th century portraits, by a truly accomplished artist who captured a timeless subject. We see a loving mother and her cherished little one. Study the costuming details...don't you just LOVE those cute 1840s baby shoes. I can remember that my own two children were forever taking off their shoes when little tots, always trying to free those tootsies!!

This is a delightful, all original early portrait. It really will display excellently. It will make a one of a kind baby shower or christening gift, just perfect for the discerning nursery wall.

This stunning watercolor portrait was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1840. The painting was clearly painted by a confident and talented artist. The painting has such wonderful attention to detail, notice the little girl holding her tiny leather shoe in hand. We love the way in which the artist has painted the curls in the mother’s hair and how they have portrayed the delicacy of the silk bonnet. The painting is on card or paper and is housed being old glass in its original birds eye maple frame with a gilt slip. The backing paper looks to be original suggesting the frame has never been opened.

Please see our collection of 18th and 19th century art and antiques listed separately in our store. We love art and antiques from the Georgian, Regency and Victorian era.
