A very sweet miniature die cut rose shaped card poetry book from Ernest Nister, published circa 1890. This would make the perfect stocking filler for a florist, gardener, nature lover or Victoriana lover. It would make a super book for a special larger doll.
This very small book is called A Wild Rose and it is shaped as a Wild rose with chromolithographic printing. The hinge is of its original silk tie ribbon. To the front cover we see a pink wild dog rose, to the reverse we see the underside of the same rose. Inside are just three pages. Page one is the title page with a beautiful pansy/viola A Greeting, Ernest Nister London: 24 St Bride Street E C. Printed by E Nister at Nuremberg. Page two depicts a Tortoiseshell butterfly with a poem. Page two depicts crocus and a poem.
Measuring a mere 3 by 2 5/8 inches.
Condition is very good. Old ink inscription to inner title page of 'Ringo'. Minor creasing to the hinge area. A small paper rub to the petal tip of the rose seen at 1 o'clock (very minor).
