This charming little toy train was produced in England in 1935. The tinplate clockwork train is called ‘Silver Link’ and is based upon Silver Link which was the first London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) A4 Class locomotive, built in 1935 to pull a new train called the Silver Jubilee. Silver Link made its inaugural journey from King's Cross, London on 29 September 1935. It reached a speed of 112mph, breaking all previous records.
The toy is in full working condition; just turn the key clockwise, give the train a slight push and off off he goes. The train is a really fascinating little item, the perfect piece for the antique toy collector or railway enthusiast. A fine vintage toy, we have not found another example.
Measuring: Width 6.25 inch (16 cm) by height 2.5 inch (6.5 cm).
Condition: Light surface wear commensurate with age, as mentioned need to give the train a slight nudge once wound to start him off.
A super little chuff, chuff, a unique gift:)
