This wonderful Dachshund terracotta figure was produced in Austria and dates to the late 19th century, circa 1880. The well modelled figure is typically Victorian. During the Victorian era Dogs and cats were often depicted on biscuit tins, postcards and chocolate boxes. This is a quality little figure that has been cold painted; we love the dogs collar and his brown painted eyes (not glass). Unusual to find an Austrian terracotta dog in this smaller size. This is the perfect item for anyone who loves dogs or collects Victorian statues. This is a unique opportunity to own a sought after item.

Please see our collection of antique dog and cat related art and antiques listed separately in our store.

Measuring: Width 4 7/8 inch (12.5 cm) by height 3 7/8 inch (9.5 cm).

Condition: Good with an area of old restoration to his nose..
