We are very excited to offer this delightful Georgian era toy doll size Spode porcelain milk Jug. This circa 1821 jug is of miniature proportions; imagine the skill required to manufacture on such a small scale!! The piece has excellent translucency. This fine jug has been produced to the highest quality. It is decorated in pattern 3157; miniatures in this pattern were most likely commissioned by a wealthy family for their adored child.
The lavish pattern features extensive gilt decoration with finely hand painted pink and white floral Apple blossom upon Spode's famous pure white ground. The level of detail is astonishing for such a tiny piece. The jug is clearly marked to the base with iron red script ‘Spode 3157’. This pattern was only used for miniature pieces used in the Dejeuner Paris Toy tea set produced in 1820 – 1821. Miniature pieces were a sign of wealth and good taste, they were extremely expensive.
This is the perfect item for anyone who collects rare early English porcelain, as it will make a luxury addition to a doll house or perhaps a luxury accessory for a VERY special doll. Please see the other two items from this same miniature service, each retailed individually.
