A very charming stipple engraving and etching titled 'A Young Spartan, I Brydon execudit 1789'. We see a young classical Greek child carrying a basket of fruit and holding a wine jug. Beautifully executed, this is a rare little engraving. Housed behind glass in a very attractive 19th century frame with ornate composition mouldings. This little treasure is ready to hang and admire.
John Brydon was a British publisher/printer active between the years 1783 - 1806 at his 'Looking Glass and Print Warehouse, Charing Cross, London'.
Frame size: 8" high by 6.5" wide. Print size 5 5/8" by 4.25" (145 mm by 110 mm)
Condition: Some minor age debris trapped under the glass. A small area of darkening at 3 o'clock. Some minor age related loss to the frame moulding at the corners as seen via our images.
