This ornate Napoleon III mirrored pocket watch holder was produced in France during the 19th century, circa 1860 -1870 era. The watch holder is modelled as a standing bamboo mirror or a fire screen and is complete with its original bevelled glass mirror. During the 19th century bamboo furniture was very popular; its major revival came during the Aesthetic movement. This is a decorative Victorian piece; we have not found another like it.
Measuring: Width 4 3/8 inch (11 cm) by height 7 7/8 inch (20 cm). Depth 2 5/8 inch (6.5 cm).
Condition: Age related wear to the gilt finish seen as silver areas, a few spots of aging to the mirror, a slight wobble to the feet and a small hole to the card backing.
This is a rare, quality item that will display excellently. This would also make the ideal boudoir accessory for a larger doll.
