This wonderful miniature sold light blue Jasperware plaque was produced by Wedgwood in England during the late 18th century. The plaque features two bacchanalian putti devouring grapes. The level of detail is remarkable for such a small scale, just look at the curls in the hair!! To the reverse we find part of an impressed ‘Wedgwood’ mark. The plaque was purchased as one of a set of three, each sold separately. The plaques would have originally adorned a fine piece of furniture such as an ornate mirror, writing table or casket.
