This charming miniature watercolor portrait on paper was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1830. The sitter is wearing a wide brimmed straw bonnet with large blue ribbon. She also wears a large pink silk cape. The painting is still very crisp with gorgeous coloring. It is housed behind old bubbled glass and set in a decorative birds eye maple frame with a gilt slip. The small frame has been bespoke made from a larger period frame.
This is a wonderful painting that has been completed on a small scale, the perfect item for anyone who loves period costume.
Measuring: Frame width 6.75 inch (17 cm) by height 7.5 inch (19 cm). Aperture width 2 7/8 inch (7.5 cm) by height 3 5/8 inch (9 cm).
Condition: Unopened by ourselves. Minor surface wear to the period frame commensurate with age.
