A stunning velvet and pinchbeck cuff bracelet from the Regency era of 1820. This fine example has a gorgeous clasp beautifully crafted from buttery yellow pinchbeck with a central hand enamelled porcelain plaque. As seen to the reverse of the plaque in the original painters script, the young lady depicts a maiden from the Soleure region of North West Switzerland. The clasp opens and shuts perfectly with a satisfying snap. Complete with black velvet cuff band with a very unusual and extremely intricate handmade lace frill. Please note that this bracelet is small as ladies wrist proportions were much smaller 200 years ago.
Size: 6" long (a six inch wrist diameter). The central clasp approx 1" by 1.5"
Condition: Excellent with just one very feint 1/8" light surface scratch by her right foot.
A rare little example that is a pleasure to own.
