We adore the antique clothing on this gorgeous circa 1880s German parian doll. To us, she could have just walked off the page of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel Cranford - her bonnet is so 1840's. Brass Avery basket not included - retailed separately.
A delightful antique doll, marked with impressed mold number 1222 and she stands at 13" high. She really is in good condition and comes complete with 5 layers of all original Victorian clothing including wool cape, paneled white cotton skirt, matching button backed opening chemise and petticoat, boned corset, shift and fine linen bonnet bordered in red binding. This fine cotton clothing has tiny neat stitching and wonderful lace and pintucks, all meticulously stitched as one would expect from genuine Victorian clothing including Dorset buttons. We adore all of her clothing and especially her cotton stay/ lace up corset. She has a bisque/ parian shoulder head with hand painted features and sculpted blonde curls. Impressed number 1222 and 3 to the reverse of her shoulder plate. She has a coated linen cloth body with original crunchy straw stuffing. She has composition lower arms/modeled hands. Her composition legs are complete with painted high socks and beige boots.
We have undressed her in order via our images, trying to convey each layer of clothing - please feel free to request more.
Size:13 inches tall
Condition: Good being free from chips, cracks or nibbles. She has all fingers and original boots. When undressed you can see that she has some wear to the top of her right arm where her arm joins her shoulder. This arm joint is stretched and does not quite sit under the shoulder plate as its left shoulder does. There appears to be old animal glue and reinforcing cloth where perhaps the head has been re-secured to the body. All solid and very stable and evidence of too many times being undressed by little, impatient hands.
This endearing little doll will make a perfect addition to your antique doll collection.
