This delightful miniature porcelain doll size tea cup and saucer was produced in England during the 19th century, circa 1825. The cup features a richly gilded border and an ‘Old English' shape handle. The cup was produced for a doll and is of a high quality with excellent translucency. The base of each piece features a red painter’s mark. We have not seen another miniature example like this; full size pieces produced in this shape were manufactured by makers such as Ridgway, New Hall, Yates and Hicks & Meigh.
Measuring: Cup width including handle 1 5/8 inch (4.2 cm) by height 0.75 inch (2 cm). Saucer diameter 2.25 inch (5.6 cm).
Condition: Very good.
This is a wonderful, early piece by a top porcelain manufacture. This is a rare survivor; it would make the perfect accessory for a larger doll. Please see our other miniature porcelain tea cups and saucers listed separately in our store.
