This delightfully scarce, hand painted full length silhouette of a lady was produced in England during the early 19th century, circa 1815 to 1818. The female sitter is wearing a traditional Regency era pink day dress with sheer modesty panel, long white cotton gloves and a ruched, silk covered straw bonnet. This is one of the finest silhouettes that we have had the privilege to acquire; we love the transparency of the modesty panel and the wrinkles in the fabric glove. The color palette of the whites and peachy apricots is particularly attractive. Colored silhouettes are extremely rare; we have researched via our many reference books and have not been able to find an equal. This silhouette is painted in watercolor on paper and is housed behind old glass in its original decorative birds eye maple frame with a gilt slip.
This is the perfect item for the fashion historian, silhouettes collector, or those with a passion for all things Regency. A unique opportunity to own such a scarce decorative item from Regency England.
