This is an excellent example of a high quality embossed neoclassical style face screen produced by Henry Dobbs of London. This luxurious paper face screen was produced in the first quarter of the 19th century, circa 1825 and features a wonderful three dimensional moulded paper surround (very much reminding us of the wonderful wood carvings of Grinling Gibbons). The central rectangular reserve features a charming needlework depiction of an English Foxhound worked on fine silk gauze. The screen is complete with its original turned gilt wood turned handle. To the bottom left corner we find the embossed makers mark 'DOBBS'. Please see the other Dobbs face screen shown in last image, that is retailed separately.
Measuring: 9 3/8 inch (24 cm) by height 15.5 inch (39.5 cm).
Condition: Some minor bumps to the edges, small chip to the edge at 10 o clock and a repaired chipped section above it. Small section of gilding missing at bottom of handle. None of these points in anyway detrimental for display.
