This wonderful watercolor portrait miniature of a lady was produced in England during the early 19th century, in the year 1815. The sitter is a young lady in traditional Regency dress with her simple strawberry blonde Jane Austen style hair, single Vandyke lace edged neckline highlighted with Chinese white and her high waisted black dress. Her facial features are elegant and fine; one feels that the artist has conveyed the gentle nature of this beautiful young lady. The painting is signed by the artist bottom left reading ‘E. S. 1815.’
The painting is housed behind its original convex glass in a papier mache frame with a gilt bezel and gilt star design top hanger. This is a desirable item with an attractive sitter, a perfect addition to your Regency inspired home or portrait miniature collection.
