This ornate Palais Royal inkwell was produced in France during the 19th century, circa 1840. This quality little item would have been retailed in one of the upmarket boutiques of the Palais Royal shopping arcades of Paris. The inkwell is constructed from gilt metal and features three mother of pearl shells which adorn the outer edges of the frame. The central glass inkwell is complete with its original lid and chain; we particularly like the five engraved roses which surround the lid. This is a beautiful item that has been produced to an excellent quality, this item will display excellently. Please see our collection of early 19th century Palais Royal items listed separately in our store.
