An early Berlin woolwork covered foot stool for a 14" to 18" doll. This circa 1840 to 1860's wooden foot stool has four wooden bun feet, a mahogany base and its original horsehair filled needlepoint cover. The hand worked wool needlepoint is worked in tent stitch over a cotton canvas ground. The tumbling block design is very attractive and typical of the earlier Berlin woolwork designs.
This is a scarce example, a real coup for the doll collector.
Size: 6" by 4" by 1.25"
Condition: All original and sound. As one would expect with a textile of this age there is an area of wear to the woolwork top as seen in our image.
