This delightful miniature watercolor portrait on card dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1880s. This charming unsigned portrait depicts a little girl, one of a pair of sisters, her younger sister is sold separately. This unique portrait has a charm of its own because we do not see the little girl's face, rather peculiarly it is painted from behind. This dinky painting would make a fine addition to a nursery or special toy collector's room.
We see a cute preschool aged girl in her lace and pink mob cap with lemon cape over her matching lemon dress; her frilly pantaloons poke out from beneath. She wears white ankle socks and little black buckled shoes complete with scuffed heels. She is holding a closed parasol.
This sweet watercolor is housed behind glass in dark stained wooden ribbed frame.
