This quality little blue and white transferware tea cup and saucer dates to the early 19th century, circa 1820. The cup was produced in England for a child and is of toy proportions. The cup and saucer feature a well-executed rural landscape scene depicting a milkmaid and a piping Shepard with cows and a sheep in the background. Both pieces have been produced to an excellent quality; we love the unusual scalloped rim. This is a rare item; we have not found another like it. This is the perfect addition to your collection of Georgian 19th century blue and white pottery and porcelain.
Measuring: Cup width including handle 3 inch (7.5 cm) by height 1 7/8 inch (4.5 cm). Saucer diameter 4 inch (10 cm).
Condition: The tiniest underglaze nibble to the top of handle. Tiny little shallow chip to the foot rim of the saucer and a minor hairline to the saucer 0.75 inch. All extremely difficult to see but mentioned for accuracy.
