This small, beautiful mirrored bird cage design frame dates to the 19th century, circa 1860s. The frame is modeled as a bird cage and features two trompe l'oeil/ decoupage hand colored engravings applied to laid paper, all housed behind glass, the glass having gold paper exterior vertical bars. The engravings feature a Kingfisher and an exotic type bird perched upon a branch. At the base of the frame we find a rectangular mirror with a gilt raised floral motif. This is a unique, decorative item that will display excellently. The frame is constructed from wood and then has been covered in rich gold paper.
