This scarce, and truly delightful inkwell was produced in France during the late 19th century, circa 1890. It features three Meissen style hand painted porcelain pugs sat upon a circular stepped base. The central spherical hinged compartment opens to reveal its original earthenware inkwell and a radiant gilt lining. This ornate item will display excellently in any interior, it is the perfect item for anyone who loves dogs or original French antiques.
Measuring: Base diameter 3.75 inch (9.5 cm). Height 4.5 inch (11.5 cm).
Condition: Some surface wear and dulling to the gilt metal exterior associated with age. The pinch clasp lid opens and closes well by gently squeezing both sides of the lid.
