This wonderful little bisque porcelain Cat whistle was produced in Staffordshire, England during the early 19th century, circa 1830. The whistle is modeled as a shoe with a tiny kitten resting in the opening, we love the little bow and how she is licking her lips. The whistle is perfect for anyone who loves cats; it really is the perfect subject matter.
Measuring: Width 2 7/8 inch (7.5 cm) by height 1.25 inch (3 cm). Depth 7/8 inch (2.2 cm).
Condition: Very minor firing fault line to the opening of the whistle, tiny 1/16 inch shallow fleabite to the base.
This is a rare and decorative item, one sees the baby bisque porcelain whistles and very, very occasionally a dog whistle, but the cat example is as rare as hens teeth.
