This delightful pair of early 20th century dog watercolors are by the artist Marion W Lee. The paintings are of an excellent quality and feature a pair of charming West Highland Terrier Dogs. The artist has perfectly captured the loving, intelligent personality of these Westie dogs. Joseph and his successor Jock were likely the artist’s / illustrator's own beloved pets.
The painting titled ‘Joseph’ features the artist’s signature reading ‘Marion W Lee, May 1916.’ The painting titled ‘Jock’ features the artist’s monogram reading ‘MWL’ and is dated August 1925.
The paintings are each housed behind glass in attractive modern gold effect frames that are ready to hang. These really are pair of charming paintings; we love how they have remained together for so long, even surviving the First World War.
