This endearing Victorian toleware painting dates to the late 19th century, circa 1880. The hand painted scene features a proud mother tabby cat with her three playful kittens, similar in style to works by the 19th century Dutch artist Henriëtte Ronner-Knip. Cats and kittens were very popular subject matter in the Victorian era where they appeared on postcards and advertising. This is a decorative, original convex wall hanging that is typically Victorian. All hand painted, not a print of any kind....it is a very sweet painting. This is the perfect artwork for anyone who loves animals.
