A small and beautiful devotional work from the first quarter of the 19th century. This portable reliquary picture was all hand made by nuns in France circa 1800 to 1820 and contains not only gilt rolled paper paper flowers but also a pressed paper image of a saint to the center. All housed within an oval crimson silk covered frame with hand cut glass and metal wrapped silk thread braiding. This is a very special little object for those of us who adore early 19th century devotional antiques (later 19th century examples tend to be more garish).

Condition: This item is nearly 200 years old and has centuries of dust and debris trapped under the old glass. We can see the remains of two tiny pieces of hardened wool, possibly wood with printed titles of Saint Honore and St Fidelis, the other two are missing and are a little undecipherable as the paper name labels are hand written. Perhaps a missing border of braid above the glass,
