Antique 19th Century Stained Glass Effect Reverse Printed Glass October 1900
A very unusual, immensely decorative antique that was specifically made to be displayed against a window, a 19th century version of a more affordable stained glass panel. One of a pair, each sold separately see item TA11798A.
This beautiful old bubbled and striated sheet of glass has a colored print applied to its reverse. The 19th century Art Nouveau print is most likely German or Dutch in origin, its depicts the month of October with two laborers harvesting the grape, one crushing the grapes in the vat. The diamond shape central scene is stunning and the typical Art Nouveau, Gothic style ornamentation surrounding this is equally beautiful.
Our main image is illuminated from behind with a light. The remaining images taken against a window in natural daylight. The last but one image showing without illumination how plain the item would be.
Size: 10.75" by 8.25"
Condition: Showing its vast age with reverse surface wear and a few large scratches to the print. A small chip to the glass bottom left corner. Nothing too detrimental that would prevent display.
A super item that we see displayed in an entrance hall window or cottage window......stunning!!
