This unique Victorian hand built painted toy model of a water pump dates to the 19th century, circa 1880. This model was handcrafted and constructed by a budding engineer from lead and brass with the top lifting off to reveal the base reservoir. Originally this model worked; when the reservoir was full the handle would be pumped and water would pour from the tap into the bucket. The bucket fed back in to the base reservoir. The model is sadly no longer working.
This antique model has some wonderful details such as the love heart handles to the bucket; we particularly like the acorn finial seen to the pump and handle. This small-scale model has the most fantastic natural patina with its blue and green paint with a good dry surface. This charming model would display excellently alongside any Primitive or Folk Art collection. This is a one off item that would make the perfect conversation piece, an excellent example of Victorian ingenuity.
Measuring: Width 5.5 inch (14 cm) by height 8.5 inch (21.5 cm), depth 4.25 inch (11 cm).
Condition: The item is in good condition with some minor bumps and surface wear. The model is sadly no longer working. Not suitable as a toy for children.
