A fabulously decorative miniature porcelain plaque to enhance your antique doll collection. This pure white, translucent porcelain plaque has a very unusual central gilt transfer printed scene. We see two young boys on the banks of a European river. behind them a small church with snow capped mountains beyond. Two sailing barges meander their way along the river. A young man is seated upon the ground slicing a large ham or cheese for his lunch. A younger pedlar boy has approached him and as they share their lunch the pedlar shows the seated man the pretty cabinet boxed Grodnertal type doll that he carries from a strap around his neck. The transfer is very finely executed in gilt with a band of opulent gilding to the circular edge. Housed under glass and within a sweet gilt over gesso frame this is a delight to display on a shelf.
Size: Framed 4.5" by 3.5", plaque 4" by 3".
Condition: The unmarked porcelain plaque is in excellent condition as it has been protected by the glass. The gilded transfer bright and crisp. We have replaced the securing nails to the reverse. There are no suspension hangers on this very small frame, we would suggest using a plate hanger for display.
