This fabulous miniature cabinet was made in France during the 19th century. Its design is that of an Empire period table reveals a silk lined vitrine or jewelry casket when opened. It has some magnificent detailing - we particularly like the ancient classical symbols to the lid. This miniature is a gorgeous stand alone piece or the perfect accessory for a large scale doll house or exquisite doll vignette. Fully stamped with the 19th century French Depose mark to the underside of the base.
Size: This heavy little casket measures height 4.5", width 3.25", depth 2.75"
Condition: A little tired, not quite pristine, but this cabinet exudes faded grandeur as it has been played with and well used. There is wear and rubbing to the exterior gilding, verdigris to the bronze metal in places, the interior underside of the lid has been painted in gilt . The hinges open perfectly. The interior is a later replacement.
