This decorative and imposing LARGE storage jar dates to the last quarter of the 19th century and is a perfect addition to your antique Apothecary jar collection. This handsome beast would have once proudly served a Tobacconist store, most likely as a large display feature, rather than the smaller storage jars found on the mahogany shelves. This large earthenware jar features a wonderful high gloss glaze with a large hand-painted advertisers plaque with a crown as the centerpiece. The jar is complete with its original tole lid which has a fabulous natural patina. This is a unique item that will display excellently in any home or business, please excuse the glare of our studio lights on the high gloss glaze.
Measuring: Diameter 8.25 inch (21 cm). Height 11.25 inch (29 cm).
Condition: This large and heavy original example is in good condition, there are some minor surface nibbles to the inside rim of the jar and a shallow graze to the glaze on the reverse of the jar. The hand-painted advertising to the center is time worn.
An absolute untouched beauty waiting to enhance your vintage interior, perfect for country kitchen or city loft living.
