This hugely decorative dog papier mache footed dish dates to the mid 19th century, circa 1860-70 and although unsigned, it is very similar to the dog paintings of George Armfield (1808-1893.)
This is one of a pair, each retailed separately, see item TA11709B. This slightly convex dish features a hand painted oil portrait of a small Jack Russell terrier type dog. This delightful dish has a spirited artistic style that reflects the well known temperament of any terrier breed. This dish has a wonderful natural patina and will display excellently in any home.
