This decorative red Morocco leather Regency box of sarcophagus form dates to the early 19th century, circa 1810. The lid of this Regency era box is a delight with its stepped shape and gilt tooled detailing. It also features wonderful brass details such as the scrolling escutcheon surrounding the keyhole; our favorite detail is the original four ornate brass ball feet with their original fancy covers. The interior lid of the box features a large decorative floral print. This box contains its original inner compartments that were once used to store sewing tools. It also features its original pink paper lining throughout. This is an attractive box that will display excellently in a modern or older style home.
Measuring: 7” (18 cm) by 5” (12.5 cm). Height approximately 3.5” (9 cm).
Condition. This antique box is in sound condition with exterior signs of its vast age with a few bumps and minor knocks. The red leather has mellowed and faded a little.
