Antique Georgian Mason’s Ironstone China Japan Pattern Soup Dish Plate Circa 1813
This is a wonderful example of an early and rare Mason’s Ironstone China soup dish. This early impressed mark dates the dish to circa 1813-1820. The pattern is known as the “Japan Pattern” or “Gilded Japan Basket”. One of the key differences in our example to other “Japan Pattern” decorated pieces is the color palette of the flowers. On other examples of this pattern, the flowers are hand painted in the traditional Imari red. Our example depicts the flowers hand painted in a very desirable manganese pink, cornflower blue and marazine / cobalt blue. We are yet to find another example in this pattern with the same colorway.
Measuring: Diameter 9.5”. Height 1 6/8”.
This plate is in very good condition. It is free from chips, cracks, damage or restoration. If we had to picky we should mention some concentric circle glazing to the underside of the base.
This would make a fantastic addition to any Mason’s Ironstone China collection. A rare piece in excellent condition, don't let it slip away.
