Early 19th Century Sepia Watercolor Landscape Painting Pen And Ink Drawing Lemon Gilt Frame English School Circa 1830
This wonderful sepia painting with pen and ink dates to the early-19th century, circa 1830. The drawing features an English rural scene with a river and trees in the foreground and several large cottages or possibly a Mill in the background. This decorative drawing is housed under original old glass set with in its period gesso lemon gilt frame.
Measuring: Frame 9.75” (25 cm) by 8” (20.5 cm). Drawing 6” (15 cm) by 4 3/8” (11 cm).
Condition: The drawing is in good condition. There is a tiny scratch to the under surface of the glass approximately 1/8” (4 mm). The frame has wonderful natural patina, there are some old bumps and gesso losses to the frame, a few of the chips to the gesso have been historically touched up with gold paint. The frame has had new backing paper applied by a previous owner.
This is a wonderfully decorative antique painting that looks fabulous on any wall period or contemporary.
