Antique 19th Century Miniature Watercolor Bee Eater Bird Pretty French Circular Frame
This wonderful miniature late Georgian watercolour dates to circa 1830-40 and features a Bee Eater bird perched on a branch, the bird is opening its beak to eat a small Bee. This colorful little watercolor started life placed in a late Georgian album of hand painted watercolors and illustrated poems. It is now housed behind old bubble convex glass in a decorative but later French circular frame of the Napoleon III period 1860-70 period.
Measuring: Diameter of frame 2 2/8” (5.7 cm). Watercolor 1.75” (4.5 cm).
The item is in good condition. There is some minor bumping to the edges of the frame and most likely a securing tab missing from the rear.
This is such a sweet antique treasure from a time when most society ladies painted for pleasure. It will make a wonderful addition to dolls bedroom (scale permitting).
